He is an alumnus of Bangalore medical college where he did his MBBS in 1978. He did his ophthalmology residency in Minto Ophthalmic Hospital, Bangalore medical college in 1982. He started his ophthalmology practice in a small clinic in the eighties. He had a great vision to grow, foresight to anticipate future needs and enthusiasm to develop. The hospital was shifted to the current building in October 1993. Once only an eye clinic became a multi specialty eye hospital and started growing year by year. To meet the growing demand for quality eye care, modern sophisticated equipments were acquired. He has actively encouraged devolopment of various subspecialities in Narayana Nethralaya and has been responsible for transformation of Narayana Nethralaya as the largest superspeciality eye hospital in Karnataka. He is an accomplished cataract and phacoemulsification surgeon. He is the Chairman of Narayana Nethralaya.
