Dr. A G Harikiran

Prof. Dr. Harikiran G. Arkalgud, B.D.S, M.D.S, graduated Bachelor’s in Dental Surgery (B.D.S) from D. A. P. M. R. V. Dental College and Hospital, Bangalore in 1998, and subsequently earned a Master’s degree in Public Health Dentistry from KLES's Institute of Dental Sciences, Belgaum, in 2001. He is presently Professor and Head, Department of Public Health Dentistry, at D. A. P. M. R. V. Dental College and Hospital, Bangalore. He is the CEO, and Chief Dentist at his two clinics, Dream Smilez Super Specialty Dental Clinic, HSR Layout, and Prakruthi Dental Clinic, Rajajinagar. Dr. Harikiran is a reputed clinican, known for his adherence to international standards of quality, systematic treatment planning, and attention to detail. He has over two decades of experience in private practice, in addition to extensively working in the field of preventive and public health dentistry.He is the Head of the Institutional Review Board, at D. A. P. M. R. V. Dental College, and holds the responsibility of both Post-graduate and PhD Guide at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, where he is a former Academic Council member. He is also a Core Committee Member at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Public Health, and Executive Secretary at CTPHCF. He was a Fellow at the Summer Institute of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Johns Hopkins University, Bloomberg school of Public health, USA in 2007, and completed the WHO PROLEAD II Fellowship in Japan, in 2006. He also completed a Commonwealth Professional Fellowship with University College London, UK. He has worked as Primary Investigator in funded collaborative research projects with organizations like WHO Kobe, Japan, Johns Hopkins Institute of Global Tobacco Control, and Roswell Park Cancer Research Institute, and national partners like Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. He has worked in, and continues research in the areas of Community Health, Health promotion governance, Epidemiology of non-communicable diseases, Edutainment, Dental and medical curriculum and teaching methodologies, Health promoting schools, Oral health, and Tobacco control. Dr. Arkalgud is a lifetime member of the Indian Dental Association, the Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry and the Indian Public Health Association. He is also holds memberships with the Commonwealth Association of Mental Handicap and Developmental Disability, Globalink, WHO Prolead, and the Indian Association for Dental Research.
