Balco Medical Centre is a 170-bed tertiary cancer hospital at Sector 36, Atal Nagar (Naya Raipur), Chhattisgarh. It is the first hospital of the Vedanta Medical Research Foundation, a non-profit set up by Vedanta Resources and Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd (BALCO) to work on cancer prevention and treatment. Sub-specialities include thoracic oncology, head and neck oncology, gynaecologic oncology, orthopaedic oncology and paediatric oncology, with palliative care for patients needing symptom control and support alongside or instead of active treatment.An oncology pharmacy prepares chemotherapy and related medicines on site, and pathology and radiology services support diagnosis and staging. A dedicated anaesthesiology department supports the surgical programme.The hospital operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
