Dr. Upendra Kinjawadekar

Dr. Upendra Kinjawadekar is a paediatrician in Navi Mumbai with 36 years of practice. He is a consultant at Apollo Hospitals, Belapur, and consults at Kamlesh Mother and Child Hospital in Nerul, where he has run a consulting practice and a level II centre since 1991.He completed his MBBS at L T Medical College, Sion, Mumbai, in 1987 and his MD in Paediatrics from the same college in 1990, ranking first in ophthalmology and second in preventive and social medicine in the competitive examinations. He has been registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council since 1987. He is a member of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, of which he was Maharashtra president in 2013, the Association of Medical Consultants and the Indian Medical Association. He has written chapters on syncope and chest pain in children for the IAP Textbook on Clinical Pediatrics and on fever without focus for the Short Textbook on Pediatric Infectious Diseases, published on rational antibiotics in respiratory infections in the Indian Journal of Practical Paediatrics, was chief author and chairperson of the IAP module on nutrition in health and disease in 2014 and scientific convener of the IAP nutrition education module in 2016, and is chief editor and author of the parents' book Doctor ek vicharu?, which the Maharashtra Sahitya Academy named best medical book for parents.His work covers newborn care, paediatric health check-ups, development assessment, infant and child nutrition, childhood infections, viral fever and chickenpox, allergy testing, diabetes and thyroid disease in children, cerebral palsy, limping in children, fractures and other injuries in children, paediatric chest and orthopaedic problems and paediatric critical care.
