Description
Risnia 1 MG Tablet is an antipsychotic medicine that is used in the treatment of Schizophrenia (a disorder that affects your ability to think, feel and behave clearly), Bipolar disorder (a condition that causes extreme mood swings that include emotional highs and lows) and Autism (a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviours, speech, and nonverbal communication). It works by changing the effects of chemicals in the brain. Risnia 1 MG Tablet may cause side effects like drowsiness, sedation, sleeplessness, tremors, change in speech patterns, headaches, abdominal pains, weight gain, etc. Most of these side effects should resolve with time. Do not discontinue the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor. Do not use this medicine if you have been allergic to Risperidone or Paliperidone in the past. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience skin rashes, hives, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, difficulty breathing, etc. Risnia 1 MG Tablet may be taken with or without food as per your doctor's instructions. Avoid consuming alcohol, driving vehicles, or operating heavy machines while undergoing treatment with this medicine. Risnia 1 MG Tablet is not recommended for use while breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant or trying to get pregnant. Inform your doctor of any heart, liver, or kidney problems you may have, or if you are diabetic. Risnia 1 MG Tablet is not recommended for use in children younger than five years of age.

Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome

Use of Risnia 1 MG Tablet may increase the risk of Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome which is characterized by an increase in body temperature, muscle stiffness, altered consciousness, etc. If you experience these symptoms, inform your doctor immediately. Your doctor may recommend replacement with a suitable alternative based on your clinical condition.

Tardive dyskinesia

Risnia 1 MG Tablet may cause involuntary movements of tongue, lips, and face (tardive dyskinesia). Report to your doctor if you experience these symptoms. Your doctor may recommend appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative based on your clinical condition.

Diabetes and Dyslipidemia

Risnia 1 MG Tablet may increase the blood sugar levels and cholesterol levels in the body. Your doctor may recommend regular monitoring of your blood sugar, cholesterol, and fat levels, as well as your body weight.

Seizures

Risnia 1 MG Tablet should be used with caution if you have a history of seizures or conditions that lower the seizure threshold.

Use in children

Risnia 1 MG Tablet is not recommended for use in children with schizophrenia who are younger than thirteen years of age, children with bipolar disorder who are younger than ten years of age, and children with autism who are younger than five years of age due to the lack of sufficient safety and efficacy data.

Elderly population

Risnia 1 MG Tablet should be used with caution in the elderly population due to the increased risk of orthostatic hypotension (a condition in which your blood pressure quickly drops when you stand up from a sitting or lying position) and kidney damage.

Driving vehicles or Operating machines

Risnia 1 MG Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some people. Avoid performing any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

Avoid missing a scheduled dose of Risnia 1 MG Tablet. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Risnia 1 MG Tablet. Risperidone overdose may cause symptoms like drowsiness, sedation, irregular heartbeat, low blood pressure, convulsions, etc. Seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms or suspect an overdose.

Take Risnia 1 MG Tablet with or without food, as instructed by your doctor. Do not break, chew or crush the tablet. Swallow as a whole with a glass of water. Follow all the directions on the prescription label/package insert. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts than prescribed. Consult your doctor if you experience any undesirable effects. Risnia 1 MG Tablet is used for long-term treatment, hence it may take four to six weeks to show its effect. Do not stop taking Risnia 1 MG Tablet before completion of the course. Consult your doctor if you wish to discontinue treatment. Risnia 1 MG Tablet may increase your blood sugar levels, blood cholesterol levels, and may also cause weight gain.
