Description
NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection is used for the treatment of diabetes mellitus (a condition with high blood sugar levels). This medicine is a combination of rapid-acting and intermediate-acting types of insulin that provide effective blood sugar control throughout the day. NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection may result in low blood sugar levels, and you may feel hungry, irritable, dizzy, anxious, or shaky. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or become severe. Avoid consumption of alcohol during treatment with this medicine, as it may lower your blood sugar levels. This medicine may also cause low blood potassium levels, weight gain, swelling of your hands and feet, redness/swelling/itching at the site of the injection, etc. NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection should be administered exactly as advised by your doctor. This medicine is to be injected under the skin. Administer it at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of this medicine in your body. Do not skip doses or discontinue the treatment without consulting your doctor, as it may cause an increase in your blood sugar levels. NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection is not recommended if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have pre-existing liver or kidney problems. If you are pregnant or are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before starting treatment with this medicine.

General warnings

Hypoglycaemia

NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection may cause low blood sugar levels. Hence, regular monitoring of your blood sugar levels is recommended. Your doctor may advise you to carry a sugar candy to counteract the effects of low blood sugar levels.

Driving and operating machines

Your ability to drive vehicles or operate machines may be affected due to low or high blood sugar levels. Hence, avoid activities that require mental alertness if you experience symptoms such as dizziness, blurred vision, etc., during treatment with NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection.

Changing the type and brand of insulin

NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection should not be diluted or mixed with any other insulin or solution, as it may alter the effects of other insulins when administered together and/or increase the risk of side effects.

Single Person Use

Never share NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection with others, as it may lead to the transfer of infection or disease from one person to another.

Allergic Reactions at the injection Site

Injection site reactions that may occur with NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection include redness, pain, itching, swelling or hives (itchy, painful eruptions that sting). Continuous rotation of the injection site within a given area is recommended to help reduce or prevent these reactions. These reactions usually resolve within a few days to a few weeks.

Use in Children

NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age as the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Subcutaneous use only

NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection is meant for subcutaneous administration (under the skin) only. The long duration of action of this medicine is dependent on a subcutaneous administration. It should not be administered intravenously (into the veins) or intramuscularly (into the muscles).

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection, contact your doctor for further instructions. You should not use more than one dose in 24 hours unless specifically instructed by your doctor.

Overdose

Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose of NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection is suspected. Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels) may occur in case of an overdose with symptoms such as extreme weakness, blurred vision, sweating, trouble speaking, tremors, dizziness, confusion, etc. In cases of mild hypoglycemic episodes, oral glucose or sugary products can be used to avoid severe hypoglycaemia.

Carefully follow all the instructions given by your doctor. Do not administer NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection in larger or smaller amounts than prescribed. Administer NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection 15 minutes before your meal. However, for type 2 diabetes, the dose may also be taken after the meal. Never share an injection pen, cartridge, or syringe with another person, even if the needle has been changed. Avoid the use of NovoMix 30 Penfill Injection if the solution is cloudy, coloured, or contains solid particles. Avoid the discontinuation of this medicine without consulting your doctor, as it may increase your blood sugar levels.
