General warnings

Malignancy

This medicine may increase the risk of developing lymphoma and other malignancies in some patients, especially of the skin. Doctors should inform patients about these risks and advise the patient to prevent exposure to the sunlight by wearing protective clothing.

Serious infections

This medicine should be used with caution in patients who are at risk of developing serious infections since it suppresses the immune system and further increases the risk of infections. Any symptoms such as a sore throat, fever, chills, etc. should be reported to the doctor immediately. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Kidney impairment

This medicine is not recommended in patients with a history of kidney impairment. Close monitoring of kidney function is necessary. The dose should be adjusted based on the creatinine clearance (CrCl).

Hyperkalemia

This medicine may increase the levels of potassium in the body and may increase the risk of arrhythmia. Close monitoring of potassium levels is necessary while receiving this medicine. Medicines that can increase the potassium levels like ACE inhibitors and potassium-sparing diuretics should be avoided. Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.

Hypertension

This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients suffering from elevated blood pressure due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient's condition. Close monitoring of blood pressure levels is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.
