Description

Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet is a combination of Cilnidipine and Telmisartan. It is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. This medicine relaxes the blood vessels and controls high blood pressure. Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet shows side effects like swelling in your ankles or feet, headache, tiredness, nausea, and stomach upset. These side effects usually subside with time. However, consult your doctor for further assistance if they persist or worsen. Avoid driving vehicles or operating heavy machines while taking this medication as it can cause dizziness. Avoid consuming grapefruit juice with this medicine as it can cause serious side effects. Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet can be taken with or without food. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet. Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water. Take the medicine at the same time every day for ease of remembering. Do not discontinue the medicine without consulting your doctor as it may worsen the condition. You are advised to make some lifestyle changes such as indulging in physical activities and a low-salt diet intake. Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor about all your ongoing medicines as they can interact with each other and cause serious side effects. Inform your doctor if you have pre-existing liver, or kidney problems or any other health conditions. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking this medicine. What is it prescribed for?

Hypertension (increased blood pressure)

Hypertension is an increase in blood pressure. It occurs due to the narrowing of the blood vessels. If left untreated, it can lead to various complications like stroke (a condition that occurs due to interrupted blood flow to the brain) and heart attack. Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet is used in the treatment of hypertension.

Allergy

Aliskiren

Avoid taking Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet and Aliskiren (a medicine used for reducing high blood pressure) together as it may lead to kidney damage, low blood pressure, and hyperkalaemia (high potassium levels in your blood). It may also cause other side effects such as irregular heartbeat, muscle paralysis, heart attack, etc. This risk is particularly higher if you have diabetes or kidney problems or in the elderly.

General warnings

Aortic stenosis

Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet should be used with caution if you have aortic stenosis (narrowing of the aortic valve that regulates blood flow from the chamber of the heart to the body) due to the increased risk of hypotension (low blood pressure). Hence, regularly monitor your blood pressure during treatment with this medicine. Your doctor may adjust the dose of the medicine as per requirements.

Use in children

Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age as the safety and efficacy data are not clinically established.

Renal artery stenosis

Renal artery stenosis is the narrowing or blockage of blood vessels that carry blood to your kidneys. Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet should be used with caution if you have renal artery stenosis as it may cause uncontrolled high blood pressure, altered kidney function, water retention, and swelling of the body (majorly in the hands and feet). Your kidney function and clinical condition will be closely monitored by your doctor while you are on treatment with this medicine.

Drug withdrawal

Avoid abrupt discontinuation of Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet as it may worsen the condition such as angina (chest pain). Your doctor may gradually reduce the dose based on your condition to avoid undesirable effects.

Hyperkalaemia

Hyperkalaemia is an increase in potassium levels in your blood. Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet may lead to hyperkalaemia and cause side effects such as irregular heartbeats. Hence avoid potassium-rich foods (such as potatoes, bananas, etc.) and other medicines or supplements that may increase potassium levels during treatment with this medicine.

Driving vehicles or operating machines

Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet may cause symptoms such as drowsiness and/or dizziness in some cases. Hence, avoid performing activities that require high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating machines during treatment with this medicine.

Missed Dose

Do not miss the dose of Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet. In case you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for the next dose, then skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed one.

Overdose

Do not take more than the prescribed dose of Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet. Seek emergency medical treatment in case of an overdose.

It may lead to oliguria (low urine output) and kidney failure. Your doctor may closely monitor the functioning of your heart and kidney while you are taking this medicine.

Kidney Disease

Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet is excreted via the kidney and may get accumulated in your body if your kidneys are not functioning properly. This can increase the risk of severe side effects. Hence, this medicine should be used with caution if you have kidney problems.

Hypotension

Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet should be used with caution as it may cause hypotension (low blood pressure). The risk is especially higher if you have low levels of sodium in your body or if you have low fluid volumes due to excessive vomiting, diarrhoea, kidney failure, etc. Hence, regularly monitor your blood pressure while you are taking this medicine.

Food interactions

Consumption of grapefruit juice is not recommended as it increases the absorption of Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet in your body and increases the risk of side effects.

Urinary vanillylmandelic acid

A urinary vanillylmandelic acid test is performed to determine the presence of certain tumours. Inform your doctor or the lab technician about the use of Eritel LNHS 80 Tablet as this medicine may give a false-positive result for the urinary vanillylmandelic acid test.
