Tata Medical Center (TMC) is a cancer care and research hospital at DH Block, Action Area I, New Town, Chakpachuria, Kolkata 700156, near the Aircraft Museum and opposite New Town Police Station. NABH-, NABL- and JCI-accredited, it was established as a philanthropic initiative of the Tata Trusts and has been operational since 2011, treating patients from eastern and north-eastern India and from neighbouring countries.Spread over 13 acres, TMC is an integrated oncology centre covering screening, diagnosis, multi-modality treatment, rehabilitation, psycho-oncology and palliative care, with 75% of its facilities given over to subsidised treatment for underprivileged patients. Care is organised through multidisciplinary disease management teams spanning surgical, medical, gynaecological and head and neck oncology, breast surgery, radiation oncology, pathology and molecular pathology, radiology, haematology and transfusion medicine, anaesthesiology and critical care, alongside gastroenterology and digestive endoscopy, gastrointestinal surgery, ENT, dentistry and dermatology. The hospital has digital and molecular imaging, robotic and minimally invasive surgery and advanced radiation therapy systems. It also houses Premashraya, a residential facility for outstation patients, and the Tata Translational Cancer Research Centre (TTCRC).The hospital is open 24 hours, all seven days.
