Disappointing Experience with Dr. Shantanu Panja – Apollo Hospital Kolkata

I had my nose (adenoid clearance) and right ear (grommet insertion) operated on by Dr. Shantanu Panja at Apollo Hospital, Kolkata, in April 2026. Unfortunately, my experience after the surgery has been very disappointing *** **********

Within around two weeks of returning home after the surgery, my operated nose developed an infection. I had to visit the hospital again, and several medicines were prescribed. Later, from around the middle of July, I developed another problem involving my left ear. I started experiencing significant discomfort, a feeling of fullness/water being clogged in the ear, and difficulty hearing properly.

I again consulted the doctor, and I was told that liquid had accumulated behind/in the left eardrum. I was prescribed medication again. However, despite taking the medicines for around a month, I am still experiencing the same problem, with no satisfactory improvement in my hearing or ear discomfort.

What has also been disappointing for me is the way my concerns were addressed during the consultation. When I repeatedly explained my discomfort and hearing problem, I was told not to panic and not to be impatient. I understand that recovery can take time, but as a patient, I expected my ongoing symptoms to be properly evaluated and explained, especially when the problem has continued despite medication.

I am sharing my experience because I believe patients should be aware that my recovery has involved repeated infections, persistent ear discomfort, hearing difficulty and multiple courses of medication. I sincerely hope the issue gets properly evaluated and resolved, but based on my experience so far, I cannot say that I am satisfied with the post-operative care or the way my concerns have been handled.
