Dr. Parul Sharma

Recently I had to undergo a cataract surgery which was done by Dr. Parul Sharma at Fortis Hospital in Gurgaon. It was not my first experience of dealing with Dr. Parul Sharma. I used to consult with her for routine eye check-ups once every 2 years at her previous place of employment i.e. the Max Hospital. So, when I went for my regular checkup and discovered at Max Hospital that I need to undertake a cataract surgery, I sought her out and finding she had moved to Fortis, I went to her for a second opinion and had no hesitation to undertake the surgery by her. The decision was purely based on the confidence I had with her during all my dealings over the years.

Besides Dr. Sharma, her whole team at the hospital were professional and a pleasure to deal with. A special shout out to the ever smiling and friendly Shivam who coordinates on her behalf and Dr. Garima Satija who assists her. They were always warm and friendly in their dealings with me. My overall experience with her and her team at Fortis for the surgery was very impressive and par excellence.

Dr. Parul Sharma is an exceptionally skilled expert in her field and very compassionate and patient in her dealings. She explains patiently and addresses all your questions and fears and gives you immense confidence.

******** ****** ** ** ***** * ******** *************** **** ** ******* * ***** ***** I was advised by my nephew, a eye specialist at Bhubaneswar,to visit Dr. Parul , at VIAN Eye hospital,sector-57,Gurgaon/Gurugram for checkup & operation of my two GLUCOMA effected eyes. Coming from Bhubaneswar, Odisha, when we met Dr.parul& consulted,she seemed as if one of our family members,so simple & so well behaved,I have ever seen. On the same day she completed the whole checkup process& fixed the for operation just after two days.By this time,both the eyes have been operated by her with tremendous results.The operation is very much satisfactory as I am now capable to see the things easily without glass ,at the lowest minimum charges.

With Dr parul,we were feeling at home & suggest all of my near & dear ones, to meet her for their eye treatment,if any.

Dr. Parul Sharma is, in my view, an outstanding eye specialist, now Head of Ophthalmology Dept in Fortis. I have been seeing (also had taken my elderly mother to her) for over 4 years. She is very professional, with excellent communication skills - takes time to explain your condition, and is not one to put you through too many tests. I chose to have my cataract surgery through her, and came away totally satisfied. During the surgery, she kept explaining what she was doing; discomfort levels were very low. In my view, she genders confidence in the patient. She has a great team in Fortis, many of whom moved there with her from Max - a further tribute to her people skills.

An eye surgery can be anxiety generating but with Dr. Parul Sharma as your doctor/surgeon it becomes a safe and comfortable experience with guaranteed positive outcome. She has operated my 87 year old mother twice for cataract surgery in both eyes. She was extremely gentle and caring with my mother besides of course being an excellent surgeon and doctor. Subsequently she operated upon me too. Dr Parul is one of the most competent and compassionate doctors I have been fortunate to come across who is always there for her patients. I felt so safe being operated upon by her. I would recommend her to everyone suffering from eye related ailments.

My mum is 71+ and we went there for third n final opinion. After one hour it was our turn(with the appointment). She got the initial checkup done & I informed them that it’s our third opinion n we hv the scans, but the first doctor said not required as we take our own scans. Then after 30 min in our turn we went to the doctor. She just checked thru the machine, asked for diabetes question that since how many years she has diabetes n what’s the sugar level( which we told).

So that was the only question she asked & said she has cataract n needs operation. So we can decide n proceed with the operation.

We were surprised that nothing was explained, no other questions were asked n what’s the level or condition of her eyes or so nothing…

Then I told her as this is our third opinion. ******** ******* ** ********* ****** ******** ** ***** ****** *** **** ***** ** ******** ** ***** ******** ***** ** ** ******** It was then she actually reacted and we showed her the scans. She saw and then said “o yes swelling is there. Okay you meet dr Purnima tomo as she is retina specialist”.

I asked her again as why she suggested operation without checking properly, to which she said “we do this scan before the operation, u meet my assistant outside, take his number n book an appointment for tomo and then we will see”.

We were so surprised ** *** **** *********** ********** ********** I again asked that assistant, ** ** *** *** ****** ***** ********* She didn’t even tell us about the swelling n all? To which he was unable to answer n said, “I don’t know what mam says, it’s her diagnosis”. Twice thrice I asked him what kind of ********** diagnosis is this?? But he was confused n didn’t say much! We actually thank our stars that we went somewhere else **** *** ********* ** ***** ** ***** ** ******* *** ***** ******* *****

So our question here is,

1) this is what we expect from senior n expert doctors??

2) after paying 1280₹ don’t we deserve at least 12 minutes of the doctor?

3) it isn’t the doctors responsibility to explain the condition to the patient??

4) though it was our third opinion, but otherwise it wasn’t doctor’s duty to explain us the exact stage, level, lens, what cataract lenses are there, n everything about it?

All the hype for which we went there with so much hope , was all in vain after consulting her.

It was indeed an extremely bad experience for us. Always show some respect to the patients time, money and try to educate your patients as they’re not doctors..

I was suggering from high myopia of -14 dipotres and could not see anything without the,Since my spectacles number was high and cornea not so thick,i was advised against Lasik.That is when Dr Sharma after examining my eyes in detail advised me to go for ICL-Phakic implantable contact lens. The surgery was meticulously planned,each eye requires many measurements so that custom made lens can be ordered.The surgery took only ten minutes per eye and voila i could see the whole beautiful world without my thick glasses.My life is completely changed now..am a much more confident person!

My mother in law just underwent cataract surgery for both her eyes (1 week gap between each eye) and we have had a smooth, seamless experience. ** ***** ****** ** *** ** *** **** *** ******* ** **** **** ******. She is professional, empathetic and confident. She knows how to interact very well with elderly patients as well as takes the time to explain everything in great detail. I highly recommend her! My mother in law recovered almost instantly and has been up and about back to her normal life soon after the treatment.

Doing work by putting Ethics first: Out of so many good quality DR. Parul is truly a living example of this quality for Which I am too much grateful for her during my eyes treatment. I have goen through ICL surgery for my eyes with having almost around -6.0 D powers in my both eyes. Full producers was actively executed by DR. Parul with great patient and strong decision making skills. ICL preparation, ICL Surgery and post Surgery checkup was very carefully organised by DR. Parul and team such a way that my routing schedule fits best in it. Also best part is team also reflect her quality that few reports were done in various way to conclude decision. I would give recommendation all working person who spend more than 8+ hours daily on screen to consult with such a good practician to visit at least once a year for precaution measurements.

hospital staff were not able to disclose

the package / charges of surgery. Even

though every hospital is having fixed

package for such surgery. The doctor

was so rude and arrogant that we won't

like to get surgery by her even free of

charge. Very strange type of dealing

with senior citizen. We visited her seeing

My mother got the cataract surgery of left eye from sharp Sight centre and Dr Kamal did it but it was not successful and she faced lots of issues even after a month… Despite of doing all the follow-up they were repeatedly saying everything is fine there is nothing wrong but she could sense that they is something wrong…. Then I got lucky and I took her to Dr Parul and she did the right eye surgery for cataract and my mother is doing far better With right eye … She has managed to restore her vision so I am very thankful to Dr Parul and her staff and I will highly recommend her
