We had an excellent experience with Dr. Darshan Singh Bhakuni. My mother was suffering from progressively increasing weakness in the arms and legs for over a year. She could not easily lift light weights in her arms, or bend properly or get up from a seated position. She had trouble walking in a straight line, and often started swaying left or right when walking. She was also losing weight steadily, and lost about 8 kg in 1 year, without any change in diet and without any reduction in appetite. After a few months, she also started having trouble swallowing.

We described these issues to many physicians but none could identify the cause. She underwent many tests, ultrasounds, endoscopy, blood tests, cancer marker tests, but nothing was conclusive. Frequent advice included going for physiotherapy, yoga, eating more etc. After over a year, we could only see that something is wrong, but could not identify what it was.

On the consultation of a relative who is also a doctor, we performed some tests, and she suggested that we visit a rheumatologist. He was able to accurately identify the issue, and suggested some confirmatory tests. These tests confirmed his diagnosis of inflammatory polymyositis.
