Tongue tie may sound like a minor issue, but for many, myself included, it can have far-reaching effects on our daily lives. This condition, known medically as ankyloglossia, occurs when the strip of skin beneath the tongue (the lingual frenulum) is unusually short, restricting the tongue's range of motion. In this 1000-word review, I want to share my personal journey with tongue tie, detailing how it has impacted my life, particularly in relation to mouth breathing, shoulder stiffness, neck issues, and a myriad of other symptoms.
My journey with tongue tie began with a series of mysterious symptoms that no one could quite explain. I had been experiencing chronic mouth breathing, even during the day. I didn't just snore at night; I often found myself struggling to breathe through my mouth during the day, too. This had consequences beyond just an inconvenient habit; it left me feeling fatigued and less able to concentrate. It turns out that a tongue tie can hinder nasal breathing, leading to mouth breathing, which in turn can result in reduced oxygen intake and a whole host of issues.Mouth breathing, a consequence of my tongue tie, took a toll on my overall health. It led to dry mouth, bad breath, and even dental problems. But the problems didn't stop there. I began to notice that my throat was often dry and scratchy, a constant reminder that my airway wasn't functioning as it should. Furthermore, I realized that mouth breathing was contributing to my ongoing issues with shoulder stiffness and neck pain.Living with a tongue tie-induced tendency to mouth breathe meant I often had my mouth slightly open, shoulders hunched forward, and head in an unnatural position. Over time, this posture resulted in persistent shoulder stiffness and neck pain. It's incredible how something as seemingly unrelated as a tongue tie can have a domino effect on various aspects of one's health. These issues had a direct impact on my daily life, causing discomfort and limiting my range of motion. It wasn't just the physical symptoms; a tongue tie can also have social and speech-related implications. My speech was affected, and I often struggled with certain sounds, making it difficult to communicate clearly. It's surprising how something as seemingly minor as a tight lingual frenulum can have such a significant impact on one's life, affecting not only health but also social interactions. After years of coping with these symptoms, I decided it was time to take action. I began researching tongue tie and learned about various treatment options. The most common approach is a simple surgical procedure called a frenotomy, where the restrictive tissue is carefully cut to allow for better tongue movement. While it may sound daunting, the procedure is relatively quick, minimally invasive, and often done in the dentist's office. After thorough consultation with healthcare professionals, I decided to move forward with it.The frenotomy was a brief procedure, and I was pleasantly surprised at how smoothly it went. Recovery was fairly swift, with minimal discomfort. Within a few days, I could already sense improvements in my breathing. My mouth felt less dry, and I could breathe more comfortably through my nose. The changes were subtle.Life post-frenotomy has been a game-changer. The chronic mouth breathing that had plagued me for so long started to subside. I noticed improvements in my sleep quality, and I woke up feeling more rested. The issues with shoulder stiffness and neck pain gradually lessened as my posture improved. My speech also became clearer over time.In retrospect, my journey with tongue tie has been a revealing one. What initially seemed like an insignificant condition had far-reaching consequences in my life. The impact on mouth breathing, shoulder stiffness, neck issues, and other symptoms was undeniable. Seeking treatment in the form of a frenotomy was a pivotal decision that significantly improved my overall well-being. If you or someone you know is struggling with similar symptoms, I strongly encourage seeking professional evaluation and treatment. Tongue tie may be an unexpected culprit in various health challenges, and addressing it can lead to a happier and healthier life.

Very professional and my RCT was done very nicely without pain and crown fits so well. I like the friendliness and the professionalism. Also the doctors are very flexible in respect to the timings. I had my other doctor earlier and I was little apprehensive that how will my RCT be done but I really felt that it has been done beautifully and I would definetely visit again for my next RCT and I would really recommend to everyone to come and visit this clinic.

Happy with: Explanation of the health issue
When I first heard that I needed something called a Root Canal Treatment (RCT) for my tooth, I have to admit, I was a bit nervous. I'd heard stories about it being painful, but let me tell you about my experience. Maybe it'll ease your worries too.
So, there I was at the dental clinic, sitting in that comfortable chair, a little apprehensive but also determined to fix the pain that had been bothering me. The dentist and their assistant were really kind and made sure I felt okay before they got started.
They explained that a root canal was needed because there was a problem deep inside my tooth. This problem was causing me pain, and a root canal was the solution to make it better. I was relieved to hear that the procedure itself wouldn't be painful, thanks to the numbing medicine they were going to use.
Before they began, they placed a small rubber sheet around my tooth. It looked like a tiny raincoat for my tooth! This sheet was there to keep the area dry and protected, which I learned was important for the procedure. The dentist then made a little opening on the top part of my tooth. This part didn't hurt at all, thanks to the numbing.
Once they had this opening, the dentist started doing something inside my tooth. I couldn't really see everything they were doing, but they explained that they were cleaning out the problem area. It turns out that the inside of the tooth is like a little room, and they needed to clean out all the bad stuff that was causing the pain.
After the cleaning, they filled the space with a special material to make sure no more problems could happen in there. It felt a bit weird, but I didn't feel any pain. The dentist was really good at making sure I was comfortable the whole time.
Once they finished with the cleaning and filling, they sealed up the tiny opening they had made at the beginning. It was like they were closing the door to that little room inside my tooth. They explained that after this, my tooth might feel a bit sensitive for a while, but that was normal and would go away.
And you know what? They were right! After the numbness wore off, I felt some mild discomfort for a couple of days, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the pain I was experiencing before the procedure. I followed their advice, took the pain relievers they recommended, and the sensitivity gradually faded.
Looking back, I'm really glad I went through with the root canal. The pain I had before was so much worse, and the procedure itself was really not that bad. The dental clinic staff was so understanding, and they took the time to explain everything to me. They even gave me some tips on how to take care of my tooth afterward.
So, if you're facing a root canal and feeling a bit nervous, just remember my story. It's a way to fix the pain and discomfort, and the actual procedure might be much better than you imagine. The key is finding a good dental clinic with caring professionals who know how to make you feel at ease.
