Dr. S M Tuli graduated (1955) and post graduated (1958) from Medical College, Amritsar. Obtained Ph.D. (1966 under Prof. P. K. Duraiswami) from University of Delhi. He Was Awarded the fellowship of Academy of Medical Sciences (India), & International Fellowship of National Institute of Health US, 1972. Based upon the laboratory work of Marshall Urist (U.S) Dr.S M Tuli established clinically applicable bone bank at B.H.U., U.C.M.s and at Vimhans PrimaMed (his current institution) His major contributions have been the evolution of "Middle - Path-Regime" for a treatment of Osteoarticular and Spinal Tuberculosis, use for "Allogenic Bone Grafts" for reconstruction of bone defects, development of an extra an Articular Operation, Glenoplasty (for shoulder dislocation) and immune - potentiating technique for MDR - TB. He worked and an Editor of the Indian Journal of Orthopedics with Varanasi team 1972 to 1787, and he was the president of Indian Orthopedic Association in 1984.He has nearly 200 scientific publication and contribution of chapters to Essential Surgery (WHO), Children's Orthopedics, (Churchill Livingstone), APLEY's Orthopedics (Hodder-Arnold). And Neglected Musculoskeletal Injuries (Jaypee BRO). He is an author of the book Tuberculosis of the Skeletal System (running IV Edition). He has maintained to be a popular teacher, clinician and less invasive and biological options in orthopedic therapeutics. He has been strong to the common man, the VIPS, Medical doctors and most prestigiously to many orthopedic surgeons.After six decades of the professional journey, he has not lost his passion for the care of Orthopedic patients and for furthering orthopedic Education.

A heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the Revered Dr. S M Tuli, who would remain a living God to me forever for His unmatched brilliance, most humble nature and, a power to revive life by His supreme wisdom in Orthopaedic science. My Tibia had broken while my bike skidded on Delhi road, and within a span of hours multiple renowned hospitals in Delhi advised for immediate surgery as the X-Ray shown absolute fracture, and was advised to deposit amount for the immediate operation. Eventually I met Dr. Tuli by grace of God, and He ruled out any surgery rather asked me to keep my leg in immobile position tied with a steel supported "Knee pad" and, asked me to do some exercise while lying on bed. By one and half months I started walking again. And soon I came back to absolute normal life. Its more than a miracle He did to me without any surgery where so called famous surgeons suggested immediate surgery. He is incomparable. And, must say if there is one phenomenal Orthopaedic Doctor has to be honored in this universe then it must be Sir Dr. SM Tuli. Though I know uncountable people are highly benefited... Since I had been in US, I must not feel shy to say based on my information I gathered that leaving behind unlimited Dollars in US once, long before He left that country, when His conscious said that He has a greater responsibility to His own country, and since then for decades He has been serving in India... Given a chance to me I would offer Him my lifespan since He is indispensible...My sincere prayer to God to keep Him healthy and happy forever....

One has not seen the God but we experience his presence through his people who are kind,humble ,concerned and great.Revered Doctor Tuli is one such person.
Today, after been advised a knee surgery for complex ligament rupture by the doctors in Chandigarh, i had the fortune of meeting doctor sahib at VIMHANS for an opinion.The moment we entered his presence, i could feel the relief coming by.Instead of relying upon the MRI reports i was carrying, he chose to examine me to inform i dont need a surgery etal.
On my persistence and disbelief, he re-examined me to declare the conclusion .....no surgery.All the while i witnessed the supreme humility and kindness the great man reflected.
I not only got an advise but the lessons for life .
Thank you sir for all you are! May God bless you with a long and healthy life for people like me to benefit from.I would seek an appointment again even without a medical condition, go through the rigours of waiting just to have a few words of kindness from you.

** *** ***** ** *** ***** *** ** *** ***** ****** I had a severe pain in my lower back and right leg. Some doctor in batra hospital straight away asked me to undergo a surgery... And me and my family were very tensed about all this.. Then someone recommended Dr tuli and I was lucky enough to meet him in a week's time. He just saw me and listen to me and said get an x ray done.. I got it there and then and went back to him... He said DON'T PANIC.. Sab dard hatt jayegi... I'm encouraging you that you will drive back home on your own.. And go live life, dance, and swim and do whatever you want to do..and meet me in 2018! It is a big day of relief.
