I had booked an appointment with Dr. Sonika Gupta for treatment of my mother's cataract that was detected on our first visit to her a few months ago. My mother travelled a long way to get this surgery done with.

As I am a working individual I only have got the time to visit her during the weekends. I live in Saket and during weekends the doctor is only available at Noida branches of Max facilities. As it is no fault of her, we took the pain to go from Saket to Noida as we had consulted her earlier and she seems like a really capable doctor (which I still feel she is).

We reached the Noida facility exactly at the time scheduled (6.50 PM). The Max staff immediately took the booking fees and later told me that the doctor has already left. The staff member tried calling her 3-4 times to request her to come back for the consultation session. She directly denied and said she cannot and it's not her fault. The staff member agreed without any hesitation. I was surprised.

I then decided to talk to the manager and regardless of the questions I was asking and the explanation I expected, he kept insisting to come back tomorrow. I told him it is not possible as I cannot frequent this route with my mother who is 55+ and has a blurry eyesight as it is.

I got the refund and that was the best they could have done. This experience has been an eye opener for me on how unprofessional the healthcare sector has become today. It saddens me really.

Please do not harass patients like this. They look to doctors more than anyone else and letting them down like thus is not something that anyone would want to experience.
