Dr. (Lt Gen) CS Narayanan

Dr. (Lt Gen) CS Narayanan completed his DM (Neurology) at AIIMS in 1998, He gained rich experience in leading Clinical Services, Teaching and Research in Neurology for 20 years at the largest tertiary care centres of the Armed Forces. He rose to the rank of Lt Gen, the highest that can be tenanted by a medical professional in the Armed Forces and tenanted the appointment of Dy Chief Integrated Defence Staff. As Maj Gen, Heheld two key appointments - Dy Commandant and Dean (Academics) at Army Hospital (Research and Referral), which is the apex super-speciality hospital of the Armed Forces, and that of Senior Consultant (Medicine), responsible for overseeing the professional care of all specialists and super-specialists in the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS).During his long stint at Army Hospital (R&R), He have been part of the team which put in place several robust neurology sub-speciality programs, including acute stroke care services, epilepsy surgery, and advanced immuno-modulatory therapies for multiple sclerosis. He have vast experience in administration of botulinum toxin for various Movement Disorders. He was part of the team that performed the first deep brain stimulation procedure in the Armed Forces in 2000. As Professor of Neurology in the largest tertiary care centres of the Armed Forces, He have been a teacher, research guide and examiner for MD (Medicine) and DNB (Neurology) students for over 15 years in various universities.- Unique distinction of being awarded the Vishisht Sewa Medal for distinguished service by the Hon’ble President of India three times (2009, 2014, and 2015)- Appointed as Honorary Surgeon to the President of India on 25th Jul 2017- Presented a report on the implementation of Telemedicine to soldiers in remote combat posts of the Armed Forces to Shri Pranab Kumar Mukherji, Hon’ble President of India on 7th April 2017- Collaborated with industry leaders in the deployment of e Health and Artificial intelligence in the AFMS
