Dr. Dinesh Bhurani is a Senior Consultant Hemato-Oncologist in New Delhi. He has been working as Chief of Hemat-Oncology Services from 2007 at the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute & Research Centre, New Delhi. He is also Chief of Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at the same institution. He has performed over 250 stem cell transplants thus far in his medical career.Dr. Bhurani completed his DM (Hematology) from CMC Vellore and also obtained the title of Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australia (FRCPA). He has worked as a Consultant at CMC Vellore from April 2001 to February 2002, and Associate Consultant, Chairman, at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, from August 2005 to April 2006. He studied and trained for over three years in Australia between Feb 2002 and July 2005, serving for about a year each at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and the Austin Hospital in Melbourne, and for about 18 months with the West Sydney area health service. Dr. Bhurani is an active member of the Indian Society of Hematology and Blood Transfusion. He has been involved as Principal Investigator for various clinical trials relating to lymphoma, Myeloma and CLL, and has been Co-Investigator for many other Medical Oncology trials since 2007. Dr. Bhurani has supervised DNB students, and also been co-supervisor for PhD and MSc students.

Dr Bhurani, among the top Hemato-oncologists and the busiest among all his counterparts in India, has tremendous patience and calm attitude towards all his patients and their attendants. In the last 4.5 months we have been visiting him, inspite of his work-load or time of the day, he answered all our questions with total patience and respect. The same I noticed in his behavior with all his patients. We took our father to Dr Bhurani in very difficult adavanced leukemia condition, when our previous doctor (Director of Hemato-oncology at another very renowned hospital in Delhi) had almost given up. Dr Bhurani agreed to manage and created a customized treatment plan for each cycle of my father’s treatment. He monitored very carefully every parameter and modified & fine-tuned the treatment at every step all the while putting up with our endless questions and answering them all with the same calm attitude. He uses the most current treatment plans and drugs which other oncologists in India may not even have started to use. In our case, he prescribed a chemo drug which is very targeted and very promising in my father’s leukemia condition but other oncologists in Delhi haven’t started using it since this drug’s potential has just recently been proven in research circles. This gives us even more confidence that Dr Bhurani’s team stays up-to-date with the latest advances in their field and we are in safe hands.
Our entire family has tremendous respect for him and his entire team who put in so much hard work and detail into each and every case. Dr Bhurani is very experienced and always explained the situation and treatment in very nice manner. It was always easy to understand what is going on with body. He always explain the things from all perspective like what will be the side effects, how the treatment will be done and so on.
