Wisdom tooth surgery
Is it mandatory for the doctor to suggest antibiotic after this surgery or is it based on situation? I dentist dint suggest any however I got high bp and high fever after that and my family doctor asked me to take antibiotics. I am confused

Antibiotics after routine uncomplicated iii molar surgery is no longer supported. Mild fever after removal may occur but chills are not expected. I think it was unfortunate you got high fever. If your physician felt you needed antibiotics it is recommended. I as an oral surgeon do not use antibiotics after iii molar removal for my patients routinely. It’s reserved on a need basis only .

After surgery it is mandatory to take anti biotics. If you have high fever then please take paracetamol 500 mg twice or thrice daily until your fever comes down.
