White thing behind tongue
Hello doctors, My daughter is 11 years old. I am attaching a picture which I have taken from Google (since I could not click a pic at the back of tongue). My daughter is constantly coughing. I found similar thing at the back of her tongue. I am very scared. What is it? Please guide me.

Hello I'm Dr Nikita Iyer. The photo you have taken depicts a normal structure present in all of us which is called epiglottis. It is a structure which essentially helps in separating the opening of food pipe and wind pipe. Sometimes this can be prominently seen and isn't anything to worry about.
Next Steps
The constant coughing however could be an allergic exacerbation unrelated to the prominent epiglottis.

This is normal. It is called the epiglottis. It helps in covering the airway when you swallow you food. It is a normal anatomical structure
