What causes thighs pain at night

Hi my son is 6 year old. He is a very active and a healthy child. Recently he has started playing football. I have been noticing that since 2 months every alternate night he is complaining of pain in the thighs especially in the night. Please guide me what could be the reason for the same and will he be having any deficiency?
