Even though the Liver Function Test (LFT) is normal and he was better for two days, here are some possible reasons vomiting returned:
1. Viral Gastroenteritis (Stomach Infection)
• It can seem to get better, but come back after 1–2 days especially if the gut hasn’t fully recovered.
• This is common in hot, humid climates and doesn’t require outside food to happen.
2. Heat and Dehydration
In very hot weather, children can easily get dehydrated or heat-exhausted, leading to:
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Loss of appetite
• Even mild dehydration can trigger this.
3. Side Effect of Epilepsy Medicine
Some epilepsy medications can irritate the stomach, especially if:
• They are taken without food
• The stomach is already sensitive from recent illness
• Even if he has been on the same medication for a long time, it may upset the stomach when the body is weak or hot.
Advise:
1. Keep him well hydrated — small sips of ORS, coconut water, or lemon water
2. Give easily digestible food — soft rice, dal, curd, toast, khichdi
3. Make sure his epilepsy medicine is given after food
4. Ask the doctor if he needs anti-vomiting medication again temporarily
5. If vomiting continues for more than 1 day again or worsens, get a review with paediatrician or neurologist
