Such problems could be either due to some refractive error, also these symptoms can be seen in glaucoma patients. Glaucoma is more common in people above the age of 40 and as you are approaching 40 years and having such symptoms, my advise would be to go for a complete glaucoma work up as glaucoma is a silent theif and the damage due to glaucoma is irreversible. So the earlier you detect glaucoma the better it is for you.
