Violent cough
Have had violent coughing fits for 5 days now. For first two days also had sore throat and felt like normal cold. But past 3 days has just been painful, violent coughing and a bit of nasal congestion. Lymph nodes in throat are swollen. Very tired. Constantly awoken in the night from cough. Have taken cough syrup, cough drops, sudafed, they barely help. Concerned because it is making my throat tender on the outside. I also frequently almost vomit from coughing so hard.

You seem to be suffering from viral upper respiratory tract infection which is a common type of throat and airway infection. You may need to take antibiotics, cough syrups and steam inhalation for faster recovery
