Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT.
Based on your symptoms — cough with phlegm, running nose, throat pain while swallowing, and mild ear discomfort — it sounds more like acute viral or bacterial pharyngitis, possibly with associated upper respiratory tract infection (URTI).
But still i must recommended you to visit your nearest ENT clinic for physical examination.
Next Steps
1. Symptomatic Treatment
Like pain killers (analgesic + anti inflammatory)
2. Antibiotic Therapy, as you already taken, not need to restart again. It can be start if symptoms worsen.
3. Antihistamines
4. Nasal Decongestants
Health Tips
1. Stay well hydrated – Drink plenty of warm fluids to soothe the throat and loosen mucus.
2. Take complete rest – Avoid strenuous activities to support recovery.
3. Do warm saline gargles – 3–4 times daily to relieve throat pain.
4. Avoid cold exposure – Stay away from cold air, chilled foods, and drinks.
5. Avoid allergens and irritants – Dust, smoke, and strong perfumes can worsen symptoms.
6. Practice good hand hygiene – To prevent secondary infections.
7. Use steam inhalation – Twice daily to ease nasal congestion and ear pressure.
8. Take medications as prescribed – Complete any course of medicines fully, even if you feel better.
9. Avoid self-medication – Especially unnecessary antibiotics or steroid nasal sprays without any doctor advice.
10. Watch for warning signs – High-grade fever, worsening ear pain, swelling, or difficulty breathing — if any occur, seek medical help immediately.
