Recently I have consulted a doctor regarding UTI problem of frequent urination and the urine culture shown the organism isolated is klebsiella oxytoca with colony count >10*5 cfu/ml. When I consulted him, I forgot to mention that previously when I got fever I was prescribed with amoxicillin 500 mg with dosage interval of 3 times a day for 1 week but the infection was not cured and now I am getting slight occasional pain in my abdomen and scrotum which I hadn't mentioned with my doctor.
Now at present I was given ciprofloxacin 500 mg 2 times a day for 10 days. Now my question is, I'm suspecting some other serious problem in me like chronic prostatitis. So can I take ciprofloxacin for 28 days or else should I stop the medicine after 10 days. I'm worried about the resistance the bacteria can attain if it is not cured.
