Uncontrolled diabetis..
My mother is a diabetic patient for last 17 yrs.. Her avg hba1c is 9.. Recently she suffered covid 2 mnths bck and her fstng was 145 and pp was 195.Test were done 26th march But suddenly today in glucometer we saw her fasting 250..Although glucometers are not 100% accurate...buts still it is high.. Currently she is takng depayrl 10..one tab aftr dinner. Glimstar m2 forte ..on tab b4r brkfast.. Peviously i insisted the doctor to prescribe insulin or to enhance the doses if needed...coz my mothers hba1c is avg 9 fr last 1 yr...but he didnt.. What shud we do???shud oral tablets be suffcnt with hghr dose...or we shud move to insulin.. Generally my mother maintains a fastng of 150-200. But 250 is a sudden jump.

Yes. Adding insulin to the regime is a better option.  Shifting to insulin completely can also be considered if there is no benefit with this regime or if there are any hepato -renal comorbidity. Consult with a good diabetologist for the same.
