There are 3different tests for typhoid... Most common in use is widal tube titre...bit its sensitivity is less and false positivity is also high..it is positive only after 6-7 days of fever. 2nd and preferred is Typhidot Igm....good sensitivity....but since it also detects antibodies...so comes positive after initial 3-5 days only. 3rd and the gold std is Blood culture....its results take 48hrs but it is best and it also tells us ehich medicines will work on the bacteria.
