TSH 300 + Eight yrs old boy
Hi Doctor In January 2020, child's TSH was 300 +, no symptoms were seen except slow height growth. After continues medication of thynorm started from 25 mcg to 75 mcg in 8 months his TSH is in normal range 5.90 now. My concern is that his alkaline phosphorus is elevated to 450 + since 69-341 is normal range of path report. Also he always feels constipated,we start papaya and an apple a day, so now he passes stool 3-4 times a day from past 2 weeks. Thank you

He is having hypothyroidism and needs life time medication.. Thyroid is very important for height gain and growth and development of children.. So regular monitoring of TSH is essential and accordingly dose adjustment.. Their are age specific ranges for alkaline phosphate, and growing children usully have high levels.,,still if its above range for age we need to get ca profile done.. Consult endocrinologist
