My tooth has been hurting. I’ve had pain before and was told I needed to sleep with a mouth guard. I’ve been using one at night for the past couple of nights. Could the pain be from the mouth guard?

If this pain is not only in a particular region of teeth and also referring to the area just anterior to your ear, mouthgards will help...
Hello mam.
If you had pain before using mouth guard then it will take fews days for it to get relieved...Use your mouth guard the atleast 10 days . Then if you stil have pain visit your dentist. He may change the thickness of the mouth guard or extent his investigation to the joints and muscles.. .Or some times he might prescribe you a muscle relaxant depending on your conditions
Next Steps
continue using the mouth guard.
visit your dentist after one week.
Health Tips
brush your teeth twice daily with fluoridated tooth paste
It is highly unlikely that you have pain due to the mouth guard because it is given to relieve the forces on the teeth and the jaw bone. If the pain is localised to any particular tooth it needs to be evaluated for Cavitation or gum inflammation and objective treatment needs to be done according to that diagnosis. Any further rational opinion is impractical without a look at the clinical picture of the condition or better still, a proper clinical evaluation.
