If it was a surgical extraction it may pain for upto a week to 10 days after extraction. If there is a sudden increase in pain and swelling then you need to consult a dentist.
Health Tips
Do hot water gargles with salt and avoid hard food stuff for sometime

It generally do not pain after a week. Consult your doctor for dry socket or anything else. Till then do warm saline rinses(add a pinch of salt in a glass of warm water) five times a day.
