The swelling and redness is due to the tooth abscess, the reason why your dentist prescribed Amoxicillin 500mg 8 the hourly for five days. For the antibiotic to take effect,it takes about 3 days,so continue having your medicines.if your pain , swelling and redness increases, then visit your Dentist again,he can prescribe additional antibiotic,or even do an incision and drainage to let out the pus.
