Tm intact and tm retracted
Hi Doctor , Recently my doctor advised me to do suction cleaning at Minor OT in AIIMS , after doing this the Technician wrote TM intact and TM retracted , want to know what does it mean . Do I need a operation or can be treated with medicine as I am really scared of operations

Hi. The technician just wrote that TM or Tympanic Membrane, i.e the ear drum is normal but is slightly pulled in. This most likely doesn't require any surgery, simple decongestants could help you. It is nothing to be worried about. Warm regards, Dr Aanchal A Mittal, Therapeia centre, Bangalore

TM means TYMPANIC MEMBRANE AKA EAR DRUM which divides the external ear from the middle ear
