Tinnitus or Ear buzzing sound
Hi Doctor Thank you for taking time and answering the post. My issue: For the past 4 months i have been suffering from ear ringing sound i guess in both my ears and the issue started after a sudden bad cold. I have already visited an ENT professional got the PTA test done and the results were normal but i am not aware what are the next steps i can take to understand if there is a way to stop those sound, i even have ear fullness mostly in both the ears and the issue or diagnosis was Eustachian tube dysfunction though the nasal spray also didn't work. Is there something which can be done to understand the underlying issue and this buzzing sound is very irritating and not able to ignore it. Thank you any leads will be appreciated.

Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat MS ENT From your description, it seems you have been experiencing bilateral tinnitus (ringing in the ears) along with a sensation of ear fullness for the past four months, which started after an episode of severe cold. Your Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA) report being normal is reassuring, but persistent symptoms point towards Eustachian Tube Dysfunction (ETD), which can occur due to inadequate ventilation of the middle ear. Since nasal sprays have not provided much relief, further evaluation may be required. This may include an impedance audiometry (tympanometry) to assess middle ear pressure, nasal endoscopy to check for anatomical causes like adenoid hypertrophy or nasal allergies, and sometimes imaging if indicated. Tinnitus itself can also be multifactorial, and if the Eustachian tube problem persists, it can aggravate the ringing sensation.
Next Steps
At this stage, I would suggest discussing the possibility of these additional tests with your nearby ENT specialist
