Throat scratching/sore throat long-term

Hi doctor, My husband has this scratchy kind of sore throat to long time..2 months now..we have seen many doctors and took medicine.one of the doctor diagnosed it to be GERD and gave gaviscon and said it wud be gone but same issue persists.My husband fears that it's something else like kind of cancer.He is very stressful now fearing for this.Need your expert medical advice .I am really confused on what to do now and whom to approach. I believe I will get a proper solution. Thanks.

Hello! Your husband's problem could be chronic sinusitis leading to a post nasal drip and throat irritation with sore throat. He will need a diagnostic nasal endoscopy to confirm and determine the treatment accordingly. Antihistamines and a topical steroid nasal spray can be useful. Avoid habitual throat clearing, if any.
