Tested positive for chlamydia

Asked for Female, 19 Years

I have chlamydia. I don't know how long I've had it or who I got it from. I'm 19 and have been sexually active since last year. How long would it take for pelvic inflammatory disease to develop, could I have it already? I did a pelvic exam and everything was relatively okay but I'm still worried. Out of interest I tried ovulation tests and all were negative, although I have monthly periods. Also, does chlamydia only pass on if he ejaculates? I'm so terrified thank you for any help.
