Swelling and pain in ankle
On 30 Oct 2016, I had a surgery in my left leg due to fractured tibia and fibula. I still get a little bit of swelling whenever I strain myself. I do strength training (lift weight) and run so I do get a little swelling everyday. It does not pain a lot. I live in Bengaluru but I had to travel to my hometown and here suddenly my ankle is paining a lot and has more swelling than usual. I'm eating out a lot here and climbing the stairs at least 5 times a day. Wanted to know if this is normal or should I visit the doctor?

Hello Mam, I understand that you were operated upon in 2016.The bones should have united by now. Excess strain can cause soft tissue swelling. You have also mentioned that you have excessive swelling and pain in the ankle. Did you twist your ankle or did you sustain any slip mam?
Next Steps
Would advice you to keep your leg elevated. Kindly move your toes and ankle(if it permits). Keep ice packs mam. If it does not subside within two days, kindly visit an Ortho and take an Xray.
