Suffering from chronic cough
My father is suffering(earlier also he was suffering from cough generally in cool air) from chronic cough (he is a diabetic person) and few days earlier he got high fever, on concerning, dr. told that its pneumonia and gave some tablets and syrup he got relief from cough for 2 days but now he is again getting dry cough sometimes even he is unable to sleep at night due to cough. He is taking both pneumonia and diabetes medicines, sleeping in cooler worsen his cough. He got little relief after stopping diabetes medicines for a day but very little relief. Dr. Suggested for bulgum test but he is not getting bulgum. What to do next suggest me.

Get a nebuliser at nebulise him every day and night . Stop cold water. Even if it’s hot outside give him warm water. Rest medicine should continue . Don’t make him lie straight make him lie down at one side so that sputum drains out. He need proper care with his health

Get X Ray Chest and blood test to confirm. Also think about allergy which can be the cause of cough. Dr must also check cardiac function as poor cardiac function can cause cough.

Diabetes medicines will not cause cough ,they will cause more harm if you stop them.Secondly do you have an xray done (when the doc said he has pneumonia?If yes can you please share it.Also make sure there is enough moisture in room when he is sleeping.AC and cooler generally cause lot of dryness .hence may be the cough(dry)Also you can try homoeopathic medication for dry cough.If sputum (bulgum)is not coming then you should repeat the xray and get an tuberculin test done if dry cough does not settle.
