Strep Throat accompanied by ear pains
Hi, I'm having a doubt if my Dr. prescribed me the right meds. I had a sore itchy throat for 5-6 days now with pink eye, neck pain, dry cough and ear pains if I swallow. He did a swab test and found white patches on my throat. He asked if I'm allergic to antibiotics and I said no. He gave me Azithromyocin. I google that it's not the first in line antibiotic for these situations, He could just have given me amoxicillin or penicillin instead. Is he right? base on my research, it's wrong. Thank you

Since you had associated neck pain, pink eye and dry cough doctor seems to have made diagnosis of upper respiratory tract infection rather than streptococcal pharyngitis. In that case aziththromycin is preferred over amoxicillin. If your throat pain is persistent then antibiotics may need to be changed
Next Steps
Consult nearby ENT specialist for confirmation of diagnosis and appropriate treatment if required
