D11-D12 incomplete spinal injury with spasticity developing 5-6 months after the injury is actually a positive sign â spasticity indicates that the spinal cord below the injury is still active and receiving some signals. The fact that you can now feel hot and cold in your legs (sensation returning) and have developing spasticity after initial flaccidity suggests your injury is incomplete and the cord is slowly recovering. Motor recovery in incomplete injuries can continue for 2-3 years, but it is slower than sensory recovery. Baclofen tablets (oral) can help reduce spasticity without the pump â the pump is only needed when high oral doses cause too many side effects.
Next Steps
Discuss oral Baclofen or Tizanidine with your treating neurologist or rehab physician to manage spasticity â these are affordable oral options before considering a pump. Continue standing and physiotherapy daily. Functional electrical stimulation (FES) is another option worth asking about. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.
