There are many reasons why a child starts to stammer. Usually a combination of anxious nature and low self esteem is seen in such children. The problem gets worse due to the stammering as they are then afraid to express themselves in front of friends and relatives. Take your daughter to a speech therapist who will teach her relaxation and breathing techniques. Also, she and you will benefit from counseling. Hope this helps.
