It looks like an insect bite reaction.
It is not an infection, but can get infected, hence you need to use a good antibiotic cream.
It will resolve on its own, but do not scratch the area. If severe or persistent, a topical cream will be required.

The lesions primarily look like an insect bite reaction. Unlikely to be an infection. If the child is atopic or prone for allergies, he will have an exaggerated response to any insect bite.
