Skin rash post-op knee
I recently underwent a MPFL knee surgery 5 days back. The stitches are wrapped in a cotton bandage. But looks like my skin is allergic to the bandage. I have developed a severe rash on the leg only on the portion the bandage covers. It's not itchy but has a burning sensation. And the skin has become red. plz advice.

Hi. Greetings. You may be having allergic contact dermatitis to the adhesive used in bandages. Please see your doctor soon and if allergy is severe ask for dressing to be changed. At the same visit also please see a dermatologist so that he could examine the lesions and prescribe medication for the skin allergy. The knee can be bandaged again without any direct contact of the plaster with skin. Hope this helps. Regards. Dr Govind S Mittal
