Right now I am taking elcort 6. From website I saw it is a steroid and It has many side effects .is it fine if I take this medicine for 1 week ? Will I get some problems from it?

Corticosteroids are safely administered as intranasal metered dose sprays in minute doses(each puff containing about 50 micrograms of the medicine). Oral administration is highly inefficient as only 2% of the medicine reaches the targeted site and the rest cause unnecessary side effects elsewhere in the body. Oral steroids however do have a role to play in treating severe sinonasal polyps but at a much higher dosage for a very short period just to drastically reduce the inflammation as an emergency treatment. I am afraid your doctor's timid usage of such a powerful tool may not benefit you but instead cause unwanted side effects as you suspected.
