When in home isolation, if anyone has to take a retest, why is it 14-17 days?
I mean, what is the significance of 17th day??

In case you have been tested positive and you are ij home isolation, then the reason for retesting after 14 days is because some studies have shown that a covid positive patient takes 14 to 21 days to recover and turn negative.
In case you are not positive but you just had contact with a positive case, earlier studies used to say that the incubation period ( time to get infected ) is 14 days and can range from 5 -14 days. But now it is seen that it all depends on the severity of exposure and the virus too. So it is advised to get tested as soon as you get any symptoms .
Hope this helps.
