My Sister having schizophrenia from past 12 years and still on the medicine however she is just 90% normal . We are consulting the psychiatrist on every 3 months but we don't see any improvement in past 2-3 years. we should continue or change the Doctor for better response .

Schizophrenia is a chronic illness very much like diabetes where continuous medication will be required. Yes erratic behaviour and symptoms associated with schizophrenia can be treated.90% improvement of symptoms is a really good outcome. You may follow up with your psychiatrist and convey your concerns .Yes some methods if required can be tried like ect. Schizophrenia cannot be treated by counselling.
