I have been given aripiprazole for depression with other antidepressants and lamotrigine. Earlier it was given without lamotrigine. Doc is saying that doesn't matter if aripi didn't work last time. With lamotrigine it can work. It is about Permutations and combination. Is it so? I have been taking meds for years. Is it something that can work. If it doesn't. I would change the doc. I don't want my doc to give meds just coz he has tried enough. Help plz.

Without knowing your history it is difficult to comment on your query and while you are under treatment with one Psychiatrist it is not advisable to discuss his/ her treatment plan with others. Have trust in your doctor. If you want you can change the doctor but whichever doctor you go to trust him/her.
Wish you speedy recovery
Hello, you have not mentioned your symptoms and why did you seek psychiatric help at the first place. For giving you any further advice i would like to know about your condition in details to understand about your difficulties. Now coming to your question of combination of medication the combination is good but it depends on your synptoms medication are not given as permutation and combination. I think your psychiatrist must have tried to explain in lay man’s term so that you get it.
For any further assistance you can book an online consultation if you can describe the symptoms from the start and your medications.
If aripirazole does not work alone less chance it’s combining effects will work but something important to synergistic action can help with mood symptoms, Do you have bipolar depression ?? If yes then continue arip else stop
