Ringing noise in ears

I have this problem for several years. But now the sound has become louder. I am presently managing to ignore the sound. Is it harmful to prolong with this ringing sound. Is there a treatment?

If it is only on one side it needs to be evaluated in detail, including MRI scans If on both sides, audiological evaluation will give information as to why you may be having this noise, some causes can be treated successfully, some times it is not possible
