SPECIMEN NO.: S/276/23 NATURE OF SPECIMEN: Tissue from Right cheek. CLINCIAL HISTORY: ? Ca cheek. Leukoplakia pattern bilateral cheek with submucosal fibrosis. GROSS EXAMINATION: Received single grey brown soft tissue piece measures 0.8x0.4x0.3 cm. MICROSECTION NO.: MS/769/23 MICROSCOPY: Section reveals atypical squamous cells arranged in groups, nests and as single infiltrating cells in the fibrocollagenous stroma and showing infiltration into the muscle tissue included. These atypical cells are lining the overlying squamous epithelium which shows breeched basement membrane and intraepithelial lymphocytes as well as epithelial denudation. These atypical cells have round to oval nuclei, coarse chromatin, conspicuous nucleoli and moderate cytoplasm. Mitosis and individual cell keratinization noted. 58 y male cheek biopsy showing moderately differentiated squamous cell carcinoma. Now we have to do staging workup to decide the treatment. If it's in early stage surgery is the preferred choice. If locally advanced chemo with radiotherapy is the choice. If advanced or metastatic then ohemo with or without immunotherapy is the choice. First you please get a ct scan neck and chest or pet ct
