Every benzodiazepine has a dependency potential. Short acting ones also have achieve levels rapidly in brain which gives a sudden high so increase their dependence potential in addition to their shorter acting time which urges a person to take it frequently which also increase their dependence potential. So in short, shorter acting ones cause more dependence.
