Regarding CECT head and neck report
Sir/ma'am My patient aged 69, was diagnosed with Oral SCC in May 2022 with Stage 4A. He underwent surgery+chemotherapy (cisplatin)+IGRT which completed in Aug2022. His 1st follow up cect in Nov 2022 (Highlighted in yellow) and 2nd follow up cect in Feb 2023(highlighted in blue) has shown some lesion .(post operative/recurrence or residual) but latest cect says size has reduced. Is this cancerous or just a post operative lesion as per your understanding of report? Is this normal for lesion to reduce size by themselves without any therapy? Kindly guide Pic1: Cect -Nov 2022 (Yellow) Pic2: Cect -Feb 2023 (Blue)

History noted - Since it’s already 6months since your completion of treatment , if it clinically suspicious we could go for a repeat biopsy from that site . Also it’s common that slight changes can occur in the size of lesion in CT scan . But even if the size is is decreasing if viable cancer cells are present there , you should be considered for further treatment . So better to go for a biopsy if your treating doctor is finding it suspicious clinically . Post operative cases especially after getting radiotherapy it’s little bit difficult to fully decide based on just CT SCAN report .
Next Steps
If your doctor is finding it clinically suspicious go for a repeat biopsy
